Perhaps the most controversial and well known of all transgressive Chinese ‘Shock Art’ is Zhu Yu’s “Eating People”. In this 2000 performance, Zhu Yu allegedly cooks the fetus of a stillborn baby and calmly eats it. He later admits that he vomited several times during the performance as the fetus, (allegedly stolen from a medical testing facility) did not taste good.
